The Riverside South Spring Clean-Up and Festival will take place on Saturday, April 29th from 9 am to 12 pm. In order to participate, you are asked to check in at the Rideauview Community Centre sign-up booth and an area of the neighbourhood will be assigned to you. You will be supplied with everything you need (bags, gloves, etc).
The Tim Horton’s community cruiser will be there to provide you with free coffee and hot chocolate as you set out to clean-up. Ecology Ottawa will be handing out tree saplings of 4 different varieties (White Pine, White Spruce, Colorado Spruce and White Cedar) to our volunteers. There will be information booths, entertainment, and a fire truck from our local station will be there at 11 am.
We will be competing against Findlay Creek again for the Golden Garbage Can to see which community can collect the most garbage – circle April 29th on the calendar and help us defeat them for a second year in a row!
Each year in late spring, Ottawa residents flock to Riverside South for our annual community garage sale. Tons of children’s toys, household items, and kid’s lemonade stands litter the community’s driveways, to the delight of bargain hunters! Over 200 houses register each year, with the amount growing annually. The more registered garage sales on your street, the more patrons you will get, so register your’s and encourage your neighbours to do the same! The descriptions help garage sale attendees get to the houses that might have the treasures they are looking for, so get those posts up and get ready to clean out your garage!

At our next Capital Urbanism Lab on April 6, we’ll explore how various groups are engaging youth in city building to strengthen our communities. Our guest speakers will address how they empower youth to take action on local issues, such as housing, transportation and community development.
In honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary, and leading up to National Wildlife Week (April 9 to15), the City invites residents to learn more about Canada’s iconic wildlife. This event includes displays by local organizations and a presentation by renowned naturalist Michael Runtz. Come celebrate our wild neighbours!
