Synopsis: A hard-hitting drama about the mental health challenges adolescents face in their day-to-day lives. Susan Connors is a teenager who attempts suicide before the play opens. She now lies in a coma in a hospital room. Enter The Speaker – a character within Susan’s mind, sent to Susan to help her see that death is not the answer. The Speaker takes Susan on a trip down memory lane, allowing her a different vantage point and a better understanding of what has led her to this crucial decision. Perhaps most important of all, however, is the realization of hope that comes with this journey. The Girl in the Mirror makes the audience confront this relevant and often stigmatized subject matter head on, allowing them to witness Susan’s journey of self-understanding. It is a play about the importance of communication and humanity’s need to support one another through difficult times.
