Outdoor Rinks

When the snow starts to fall, our neighbourhood comes alive on the ice!

Each winter, RSCA volunteers transform local parks into skating surfaces for everyone to enjoy! Lace up and hit the ice at one of our four RSCA-maintained rinks:

  • Spratt Park (near Steve MacLean Public School) – boarded rink + puddle pad
  • Boothfield Park – boarded rink
  • Nimiq Park – puddle pad
  • Mountain Meadows Park – puddle pad

Before you head out, please take a moment to review our rink guidelines and safety information. Following these helps protect the ice, keeps everyone safe, and supports our amazing volunteers who make these rinks possible!

Want to Help Keep the Ice Smooth?

Our rinks are 100% volunteer-run — and we’d love your help! Even one evening a week can make a big difference. High school students: earn volunteer hours while having fun!

Rink Guidelines & Information

  • The rink crews are all volunteers so please respect them and their hard work.
  • Puddle pads (no boards) are skating surfaces only - no pucks or sticks.
  • If the red “RINK CLOSED” signs are out and/or caution tape is up, stay off the ice until they are removed by the rink crew. Skating or walking on the ice surface when it isn’t ready can set back openings/re-openings and cause more work for our volunteers.
  • Shovels will be left out when rinks are open. If you would like to lend a hand clearing the ice surface, please return them neatly to where you found them after use. They should not be used as “skate aids”.
  • When clearing snow on boarded rinks, please take the time to dump it over the boards - pucks frequently get lost in the pile along the boards causing damage to the snowblower auger.
  • Rink lights at Boothfield and Spratt have to be turned on manually: Boothfield button is on the concrete bunker (green protective case); Spratt button is on the green electrical box.
  • NOTE rinks close nightly for maintenance: 9:00pm at Spratt and 10:00pm at Boothfield.
  • Have fun!
